I don't know if it is the chassis not sitting down correctly or not as there is that gap that runs right around the body and the chassis. Although the rivet heads were very tight against the original rivet posts and chassis area.

So it is just one of those things I suppose. The bonnet does seem to be loose within the assembly point.

Cheers thanks for the query.

The donor and the receiver transplant swap deal.

Like a bit rough around the edges.

Just cleaned up some of the rust and got the gear cranking mechanism working and I am leaving the Garbo alone as it is after the swap deal.

For this deal to go ahead.

Just another little bit of tinkering.

Lots of Junkers or Beaters.

Striping down and cleaning up some rust and swapping parts and some straightening up the axles.

Crimping the pivoting tipper axle. Below is a crimped end of a bit of umbrella wire rod. Although I ended up using a pop rivet shank.

A couple of images showing the holding of the pinches with a firm grip.

Hanging on like a blacksmith and a firm short stroke of the mash hammer and it is done.

Crimping the end of the umbrella wire rod steel.

Crimping the shank of a pop rivet also can be used.

Crimping a wire brad nail also can be used.

Just trim off the end by cutting or grinding and fit for a king.

Oh this sad Dodge Wrecker is a real wreck of the hesperus.

Like it should take much to soften that holding rivet head. I'll try to heat it up.

Pack some clay around it not allowed to use asbestos anymore as it is far too dangerous to our health. I think it has been outlawed for well over 30 years now.

Working on removing base plate from a Micro Models by using heat from a mini blow touch on the diecast rivet heads.  Pack some clay and if you have some potters then the better for heat absorption from the metal.

First rivet popped alright with a little bit of leverage help

Second rivet this time I have the camera ready.

Applying the heat.

And Pop goes the Weasel and the rivet releases by the shrinkage of the rivet head when pulled through the hole in the base plate.

Be very careful if plastic parts are included in the diecast model or toy. As this Micro Model has no plastic only a couple of rubber tyres that could melt or catch fire.

Like there is a bit to straighten out on this Jaguar sports XK 120
