Thanks for advise Jim, I now know what I did wrong. But solved it through your descrition.

Here is the result, not finished yet, still have to paint the details on the cab etcetera.

I used the hollow axles everywhere.

Now that is just like new. I know as I have restored one of those 972 Dinky Coles and there a lot of work and patients that go into the stripping down and cleaning off all the old paint. Doing any minor repairs and re-painting. Then the biggest task of all is the re-assembling.
