Here is the third of four installments. This is the Dinky Toys, 40f Austin London Taxi. Great model and has nice detail. As usual it is a very play worn model. Just what I like to start off with. I should also say it was badly overpainted a few times from the look of it and it was confirmed with at least 3 colors, first red then grey both after the original Dark Blue.

Okay, lets take it apart and see what we have. Driver is cast with the base. There is a meter cast with the body. The base or chassis is also cast.

Look at the muck and dust inside.

Pretty nasty if you ask me. Bet Richard had no idea.
Well Once I get through with it you will never know. Here it is in a few stages till ready for primer.

After Stripping

After bead blasting

Still a minor amount of paint left but a prime and a sand and another prime will take care of that.
Here it is primed and ready for paint.

Chassis and driver are next also the first coat of Dark Blue on the Body.

I had put the first coat of flesh on the driver too.
Next is the second coat of paint.

And here we are at the finished product.
Hope you enjoyed.
Jim

Is the light blue a standard Dinky color, or is it something you and Richard chose for the restores? How about the \"fleshtone\" paint? Fantastic looking job, as always.

Hi Rob, the Taxi was a restore job to the original colour scheme.

The way it works with how Jim applied the paint was approx three coats of blue to give it that deep dark look.

Thanks Richard. I was really chasing the light blue color on the hubs and upper body on the breakdown truck. I\'ve got a killer candy blue for the dark stuff, it\'s that medium light blue I\'m after.
