The thin modeler\'s sheet will be fine. Super glue a piece about twice the size of the missing area to the inside of the fender, after you strip and clean the casting of all oils, stripper and paint residue. Then you can start filling in the missing area. If you bend a small lip up at the front and outside edge, the liquid metal won\'t drip all over creation when you first put it on. You can file down this lip after you have some liquid metal in place.

Are you removing the tin after placing the liquid metal or leaving the there?

I was wondering the same thing if i superglue it in place it will never be coming off ?I was wondering if it would be possible to clamp a piece of something in behind it surely the liquid metal will stick to whatever goes in behind it anyway?

It peels right off some surfaces, and if there is any surface reside it doesn\'t stick well at all. Very important to clean and dry the casting. I leave the metal sheet on the casting and cover both sides with liquid metal. Then file it smooth and finish off with modeler\'s putty to fill pin holes and any low spots. It takes time to do the repair, the finished project is worth the extra effort.

The JB Weld repair can be an excellent repair, and you can fix most anything with time and patience on your side. This is the Dinky 153 Jeep I had with half the grill missing. This is what can be accomplished although it took me a week of building up successive layers in order to shape it. Good luck with it.

Rob, my guess would be a match stick glued on and then puttied in.  Either that or he as added a replacement Landy bumper cut to size. What say Cam...???

It is actually a piece of copper wire cut to length, covered in JB Weld, and sanded down. It was all I could think of at the time. The grill was the toughest part.

Works for me. JB Weld has saved me on the road several times as a quick fix to get to a repair shop. Copper wire was a good idea, I\'ve used it myself on a couple customs for exhaust pipes.

Best way to do it, take your time. The more time the JB Weld has to set up the better. You\'re doing a fantastic job on this, keep us posted.
