Here's where you can discuss all general diecast stuff - mystery items, ask who made a model of a particular car, ask for info about an obscure manufacturer or chat about anything else related to vehicles smaller than 1:1 scale!

Hi all,

I'm probably looking for something that is rarer than rare.  When I was growing up in the 70's, Acme markets (Eastern PA, USA) would distribute small packages of Revolutionary War, Redcoats and US toy soldiers.  The packs would contain 2-3 figures/accessories and would be given out based on the final tally of the grocery bill I believe.

I have no idea of manufacturer and was hoping someone knows about these toys.

There was some system of saving for a large plastic grey fort too, which I did have at one time.

I'm not holding out hope that anyone has any of these or if they exist anywhere, but it would be cool to find some.

Any leads, pics, etc would be more than GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks in advance for any help!

You would think they would have mention the makers or manufacture of those plastic soldiers and fort structures in those links. Maybe if you email them and see if they know the makers name. During the late 1960's and 1970's a lot of Hong Kong manufactures produced heaps of soldiers of different types for the world market. The USA Marx Toy Company was still producing soldiers from different periods in the 1970's too could be somesort of link. Some of those diorama sets included the Alamo and other movie tie-ins like Ben Hur and the Guns of Navarone. Blue and the Gray's Civil War and heaps of others were made by Marx as well.

From some Ebay listings it looks like they were produced by...

Innovative Promotions.

Yes that could be the answer although Innovative Promotions may have been the wholesaler importer and could have sourced the toys from a Hong Kong manufacture or even from the US. It will be interesting to find out if there are some markings under the base stands which might indicate where they were made. If they were made in Hong Kong then that would be casted into the plastic base. If you get my drift that is.

Try to find out if there was a company that manufactured toys under that name Innovative Promotions would be the next search. Then come back and inform us what you have found out.

Cheers from Australia.

Tim Mee or Timmee Toys Made in Hong Kong made low cost plastic toy soldiers and cowboy and indians from the late 1950's through to the 1980's on the world market.
