The write up was quite informative and his heart conditon was heriditary. He was also a champion race car driver, racing team owner, automotive consultant and safari tour operator. Here is the song that was done by The Rip Chords.

I was fortunate in growing up in the mid 1950's in Southern California, as sports car racing was in full swing here. There were many SCCA sanctioned races at many courses in that era, and I was able to see Carrol Shelby race long before he built the Cobra's. He always wore coveralls with suspenders and was quite a character, as well as a great race driver. He and Phil Hill had many epic duels, with both of them usually driving some sort of Ferrari.
It is a sad day for all of motorsports with his passing...a truly epic figure the likes of whom we shall probably never see again.

I was watching a programme last night about how he brought about the Mustang. In particular the GT 500 on which "Eleanor" from the film "Gone in Sixty Seconds". Carroll Shelby......Legend. R.I.P
