Announcement! TC 3.0 is almost here!

Here's where you can discuss all general diecast stuff - mystery items, ask who made a model of a particular car, ask for info about an obscure manufacturer or chat about anything else related to vehicles smaller than 1:1 scale!

TOPIC: Announcement! TC 3.0 is almost here!

HTML option - we used to have this at the beginning of the site, but if I recall correctly, we had issues with bots using it to spam, so it was removed. Does having it make it easier to do stuff?

I know some of the basic ones, sometimes I might copy lists or paragraphs from other sites.
Some of these sites may be using codes that interfere with formatting.

Usually see these codes for a couple of seconds before the block takes effect. Its a glitch I found interesting in editing. Probably happens well on my slow connection and have a couple of seconds unless it times out, which happens often too.

What if you make HTML available for members only???

Or is that too much coding.

Ok, third edit lost my uploaded image and the hotlink message. So retyping it.

Upload again - instantly ok.

I'll look into the html - the non-functional video url button was something from the last generation of the site that we ran out of time to fix. We'll get back on those bugs ASAP!

In the meantime, please let me know if you're all still experiencing any issues with the links form the message alert emails.

To further the HTML debate.

As of this time and for the foreseeable future, allowing HTML on the forums would I'm afraid open up some security holes, and opportunities for abuse.

I'm afraid we don't wish to risk access or loss to any member data, by permitting this. Anything you wish to do or post in the forums can be performed with BBcode.

If you have large chunks of tabular data or the like, I can recommend posting to the site in your own blog, and linking to it in the forums for discussion.

On another note; a big thank you to anyone posting issues or praises!

Hi LaToya,

I'm still unable to go right to the forum post using the email link. First click on the link takes me to the TC home page, so does the second attempt, but on the third attempt I get the post I'm looking for.

I am the same as Dave. I click the link in my email, before logging in and I go to the home page. I log in and then go back to the email and I get sent to the home page. If I try it again, I do go to the thread the post is in but I go to post number 1 not to the end this is a pain when there are multiple pages. or even just the one page as you have to figure out where you are and where to go instead of being taken directly there.
I have no problems with picture loading but the gallery left pane does not work properly, I have told Andrew about this.
I do not get notice of emails (PM's) anymore by the email links. Only at the top where you have my avatar and the gear logo. Unless I actually click the arrow to drop down the box, I have no idea that I have a PM.
I don't have problems with multiple log ins any more.
I don't use HTML but know some. I don't Know BB code so that is useless to me. I hate text speak and abbreviation with a passion, specially when they are meant for cell phones and smart phones that restrict you words or cost you lots of money. Can't we all just speak the best English we know?? Even the people who don't have English as their native tonge would appreciate straight talk. LOL is fine and BRB is fine but most of the other stuff is just being lazy to me.

Thanks for the explanation, Tyler. Dave, have you tried clearing your cache? If so, let me know what browser you're using and I'll investigate further...

Posting that message took me back to the top of page two this time. Should take me to the bottom

Just so you know, I am on High Speed Cable Broadband network. I use Firefox version 12.0 and just updated a half an hour ago with a security update that dissabled my Norton tool bar and my Skype to Call feature. I use neither. Norton still works and Skype still works. I cleared my cache before I posted the last three posts, including this one.

Didn't notice this before because I have my autoFill function set to sign in for me. After Jim mentioned signing in I noticed the blue 'sign in' button and found I had to sign in manually even though the TC URL hasn't changed.

As for finding the thread, the email link found it this time - so maybe it has something to do with the sign in glitch.  I'm using Safari v4.1.3 on a G4 Mac.

Jim, I agree wholeheartedly with what you say. All those stupid obscure codes and acronyms give me the screaming willies. It's totally unnecessary, and not only inconsiderate to our European members but I can't understand them either !!

Umm.. what's BRB?

The links in the email direct me to the home page, not to the message/topic

Were can I choose my landing page?

I am using IE8

Oh, and what is behind the Toy Collector Logo top left hand side? I can only see OR + a house

BRB = be right back

speaking of which, if you leave TC in idle for too long by visiting sites on other tabs, you may find you have to log back in again.

considering the slow load I'm surprised the time out hasn't kicked me out yet, which it does frequently.

Using the fastest broadband available and the main mirror site is Australia. Has to bounce through 25 mirror sites and some ISPs are incredibly slow. Doesn't help that it gets filtered through paranoid government agencies who like their acronyms too.

Theo, what size are your screen settings at?

the little house is a 'homepage' icon.

might be the wide screen page is scrunching the layers on your standard sized monitor.

Right then, here we go, I clicked on e-mail link took me to home page, signed in went to community, forums then Diecast vehicles ,chat etc

Read other posts, so shut down went back to e-mail clicked on to link, took me back to site and post.

Signed in took me to home page.

Clicked on latest posts, clicked on announcement TC etc and here I am.

I don't know if this a round about route for some with fast broadband, but now that i do not have to bring up google and TC to reply but can do it straight from IE9 this is an improvement I can live with.

Not particularly IT savvy so I don't get involved with the nuances of computers, I just expect them to work, never had fast anything , what you never had you never miss( my mum always said)
