Here's where you can discuss all general diecast stuff - mystery items, ask who made a model of a particular car, ask for info about an obscure manufacturer or chat about anything else related to vehicles smaller than 1:1 scale!

TOPIC: Lledo Vanguards Classic Commercial Vehicles.

Yes as soon as I laid my eyes on the hitch Matchbox came to mind. Actually Lledo does have reasonable quality designing scale which results in likable scale models for the price. Their wheels are basic but also look good on particular models although some individualism would have been nice.

Do like the Scammell, I have the ERF and Foden units, the Scammell trailer looks exactly like my Castrol / AEC rig.

Just added this Trackside OO scale Limited Edition made by the Corgi brand somewhere in China. This set hasn't been out of its box as yet as the sticky tap has stuck like glue. Well it is glue isn't.

My conundrum is was there only 3,010 of this Wynns Livery produced and if this is the manifesto, then are they worth collecting.

Now that is a very nice set you have there James.

2 tractors and 1 trailer, that puzzles me

Are the tractors identical and what is the load on the trailer?

I've just checked my 2011 Model Price Guide (issued by Model Collector) and it seems your set is among the most valuable of all Trackside issues...

DG 198### is "Scammell Contractor"

There are 14 different versions, from DG 198000 to DG 198013, the cheapest being 198009 "Pickford's Industrial", valued at £5-10. Most issues are £10-12, but two clearly stand out from the rest with a value of £28-30 each, one of them is 198000 "Pickford's x2 (trailer with cylinder load)", the other is yours, #198003 "Wynn's x2 (trailer with transformer)"

That should also anwer Theo's question about the load

Thanks for that Mr Tee and all I know Theo is one pulls while the other pushers. The 1960's Super heavy haulage tractors, like the Contractor of the 1966 that Pickfords had were designed for gtws of 75 to 240 tons. The 240 tones girder design was the heaviest hauler of them all back in those days. They were usually powered by Cummins diesels.

Winning bid on UK eBay 18 GBP and postage 6.29 GBP which worked out for me $36.89. Me am very pleased as I used to see them  bigger's in Model Collector and drool.

When buying models stick to the addage " don't buy to increase in value buy because you like it ,if the value increase's that is a bonus.

All the models i have pictured above cost no more than £10.00 (toy fair ones) the others cost about £3.00.
