TOPIC: Looking to identify Queen Mary Tinplate - windup ship

Looking to identify Queen Mary Tinplate - windup ship 2 years, 6 months ago #1

Hi,
I\'ve got a request from a friend to see if I can find more information on the attached Queen Mary tinplate boat with wind-up
It has a place in the second funnel to wind it up. It  has no wheels and while there\'s a
number on the bottom of it, it\'s obviously  just painted on by some
ebay seller or something recently. It\'s approximately  12.5 inches long,
a little over 2.5 inches wide and about 3 inches  tall.

Christian could you post some more pictures from different angles. Tin toys are a little out of my knowledge although we see what we can do. By the way welcome aboard.

Thanks Jim,

I don\'t have the item, but I\'ve suggested to my friend to join Toycollector and this forumthread himself.

I have asked another tinplate boat collector to check it out and - of course - to join the site.  Always looking for more knowlegable (and fun) people!

I used to live in Long Beach, Calif. where they docked the ship, and she still sits today. Interesting toy, I\'m curious as well. What does the key do? Does it still turn or has age frozen the mechanism?

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for your interest! Took me a while to get registered as a member ^_^

I\'m the owner of this. I have photos of the ship from every angle over here...

If you need more, please let me know. Also if you have questions, I\'d love to know. No one seems to be able to narrow down where the heck this came from!
