Yes, it was not particulary hard to do this. The same for a particular country is more difficult.

Although, I can list 50 diecast cars which have had a real-life version build in the Netherlands (don\'t forget Simca, Kaiser, Ford, Morris etc. have been build there)

I love that IFA G 5! Can you give me some more info on it? When was it produced?

Re:50 East European Cars 4 years, 9 months ago #18

Indeed I can.
There is some info on the German Wikipedia, I got my info from a book called \"Deutsche Autos, übersicht von alle Personenkraftwagens und Nutzfahrzeuge der DDR\"
It was made in a different factory then the one where they made The W50. Made from 1953 to 1964 at the IFA factory in Werdau, called Ernst Grube. Special about it is the all wheel drive (The G is like the Mercedes-Benz G for Gelände (terrain). Derived from a <A href=\"www.deautogids.nl/auto/merk.asp?merk=633...mp;desc=Vomag\" mce_href=\"www.deautogids.nl/auto/merk.asp?merk=633...lt;/A>-prototype. In fact, although the W50 was not as a competent truck as the G5, it was cheaper to make and could be used for more purposes. Prototypes of a new version with a V8 engine have been made, but the neccessary money to develop this was not available and therefore it never came to production.

Thank you for the info. Now I can add that to my list of irrational wants.

I have never heard of these three cars. Are they Russian?

All of them are Russian. Zhiguli is known in Western Europe as Lada.

ZHIGULI was manufactured by VAZ (USSR's state run factory).
MOSKVITCH was manufactured by AZLK (USSR's state run factory).

In West Europe ZHIGLI was known as "LADA 1200L".
