Now the mystery remains to be solved how this particular mobhit happened. The guy\'s dead, right? What a way to make sure as a hearse usually drives slowly.
So they\'re on the run from the rivals... speeding. A car cuts them off at an intersection, they crash into it. The momentum flings them over a ridge and the car rolls to a stop next to a tree. The driver had already died during the collision, but to make sure the car is riddled anyway.
No one reports the missing hearse as the owner died with the car. He had no relatives and the funeral home was taken over by the rival mobster family, as well as the land the car is still resting on.
Decades later, a couple of hikers find the wreck. They report it to the FBI. Mulder & Scully come out to investigate. While Mulder theorises that aliens took his sister and the guy in the coffin knew about it, Scully concludes its a simple mobhit and has nothing to do with the X-Files.

Case closed.
