Judging by the rear spoiler, I would say that it is meant to be a 936/78.  However, it does not appear to be a replica of an actual 936 I know of.  It could have been in a configuration for a Japanese race, I just have not seen that spoiler on a factory car.

Happy to do so.  My mind has more racing knowledge than practical knowledge.  Good to put it to some use. ;}  Here is an image of a Minichamps model 936/78, so you can see they are similar and what Tomy intended to represent. Perhaps without having to pay royalties?
