A few finds from this weekends bootsale.

The Corgi Jrs Escort has almost no paint - the ramp is a bit chipped and has no maker name - I think it might be Crescent. The rare white Matchbox Porsche 910 is in pretty good shape, especially after a polish. The Porsche and ramp were £1.00 each, the Escort was 20p. The Dinky Police Range Rover was £2.00. I got it home and found an error:

Looks like the plastic didn't quite fill the interior mould on the rear left side.

Oh, that white Matchbox Porsche! I've told the store elsewhere of how I, decades ago,  lost my red one during a blizzard, causing great 'trauma' and commotion. It was later replaced by a white one, like yours. I always felt it looked 'wrong' because my original one was red, of course, little did I know how rare it was.

Finding a replacement for the white one nowadays is, as you know, very difficult and a price of £1 and no postage is mindblowing! What a great score!

Interesting with the casting error on the Range Rover. If it had been from the final days of Dinky where resources were low and quality control sloppy, I wouldn't have been to surprised, but the wheels seem to indicate a relatively early issue (I think it had har plastic Speedwheels towards the end?)

And while we're speaking of the Range Rover: does the tailgate on yours stay shut, or does it flip open constantly? I have two, one like yours except with light blue interior, and one street version in bronze. On both of them, the lower half of the tailgate pops open all the time. I can just about keep it shut for long enough to take a photo, but breathe on it and it falls open

The corgi junior escort look's like it should be a rally car with the flaired wheel arch's

Funnily enough, I didn't actually remember that the Porsche was particularly HTF - I found it in a box of cars and thought "hmm, don't recall seeing many of those, I wonder if I should buy it - I supposed I will!"

This Range Rover has the nicer speedwheels with more realistic separate hubs. The tailgate is actually quite good at staying shut, although it does flop a bit - the one on my civilian version does flop a lot though!

The Escort was originally the Rockets London-Sydney Rally car, refinished in metallic blue when converted to whizzwheels. Someone repainted this one green at some point, but the blue underneath all falked off, so both coats of paint are gone now! This is the later WW version, with the riveted baseplate, not the earlier push-fit one.

my Ambo Rangy stays shut well. The Copcar and Civvy flop open a lot.

As for the Matchbox Porsche... keep your eyes peeled for a lime-green with black windows and no interior. Now that's one that gets ignored a lot.

So you're not tempted by the £12 offer? According to the seller it's marked "BR" on the baseplate (for Budget Range)

Re: Bootsale Finds: White Matchbox Porsche & Error Dinky Range Rover 11 months, 3 weeks ago #9

Platinum Boarder
BR? This is the SuperGT version, is it not? (Or rather one of them, because I think they did this one in multiple different colours as a Super GT.)

Re: Bootsale Finds: White Matchbox Porsche & Error Dinky Range Rover 11 months, 3 weeks ago #10

Platinum Boarder
Correct. One of a dozen orso SuperGTs I'm collecting if the price is right. Fairly random go lucky in my case.
