I've recognised most of this mess and why I fought to get it. My topbid was $177 and I won it for NZ$171. The reason was ofcourse greed and stupidity, plus I didn't like the guy I was bidding against - so it was more a grudge-match.

Was trying to figure out what the white rectangle was... and just realised its the big 1/43 Corgi Monkee Mobile. See what is also in there?

Wow, I'm pretty impressed if you've managed to identify most of this... clump of cars, I find it very difficult. I do see a few things, though:

quite a lot of old metal wheel Lesneys... problem with these is, that this is known is... that the condition of the body is not known! (in other words, we see the baseplate but not the body)

Corgi Ghia Mangusta with detachable body

Corgi Ford Zodiac motorway police

Corgi Land Rover(green), looks to be an early version

Corgi Land Rover (red) breakdown truck

several series 1 Models of Yeasteryear

Lesney Mighty Antar

an unidentified white or cream Dinky missing its door(s) on the left

Lesney Alvis Stalwart

Lesney Pontiac convertible 39b, yellow, missing windscreen

a big, white US car, possibly police and very likely Dinky

I've just been looking on a couple of similar lots tonight - it really is a 'needle in a haystack' project. Only takes a very few interesting items to make it all worthwhile, and sometimes, with huge lots, it's worth a gamble even if you can't spot the 'needle', simply beacause there's a high chance that 'something' interesting is present.

I decided against bidding on 'my' lots - the average age of the models was so, that I believe most models would be mid 70s or later, so tons of fantasy vehicles, and also I was unable to spot one single model I knew I'd like to have. I hope you find a few treasures in this lot, certainly tons of stuff to restore, so you won't get bored

its actual a rare white Corgi 'Man From U.N.C.L.E' Oldsmobile

On the right is a Lesney Major Pack M9A 'Jarret-Cooper' Hendrickson truck... and all the way to the left is its silver trailer with red labels.

as mentioned a Corgi 1/43 Monkeemobile.

A Lesney Magirus crane-truck, silver/orange missing hook with silver plastic wheels.
You know that the spw are the rare ones...

I think the white Dinky with the missing door is a Vauxhall Viva. I might have the doors somewhere from a wreck I bought a few years ago.

Loads of Lesney models fersure.

See only one Yesteryear - a red Ford Model T missing its roof. The front seat lays a little further along near the edge of the box.

Some stuff looks like Transformers junk.

There's an unknown car transporter hidden in there next to the big grey thing

The other old timers are those modern Corgi-Solido Made In China thingees, pretty much worthless.

There's a Major Pack M3A Tank Transporter. don't see the tank.

RVREVO, one man's junk, another man's treasure. That pot of gold should keep you busy for a tad. When the sorting is over, many spares and some trading valuables. Well done, although over my allowance by quite a bit.
If a busted Dinky Supertoy Foden ends up in the bottom of the pile, I might be interested in making you an offer.......... dinkyboy.

I'll keep in mind... however I collect Foden too when I can. They're immensely popular and hard to get at a reasonable price.

As Dinky boy said one mans treasure looks to me like there is some good stuff in there. I can relate to what you are saying about certain bidders when I was buying Dinky Fodens I had the same thing with another buyer he would bid to 50 pound straight up then just leave them almost as though he was just jacking up prices!

Anyway nice score my friend.

Hi Richard,      If that is a regular wheel lincoln continental sitting under the antar trailer, and it has regular wheels and not superfast .Being in the superfast colour of met green you may have picked up quite a rare car .Even in beat condition you can get $500 for one. I hope luck is with you.           gaz

I occasionally see boxes like this at toy fairs I posted what I got a week or so ago.

However I look in and have not the slightest idea what I am looking at, as I said, the guy I got my box from I have known for a while.

When the seller sidles up and comes out with "There is some good stuff in there " I tend to think, Yeh Right if it was that good it would be on the table not chucked into a box,

You normally find that the box of gems has already been picked over by people earlier in the day and it is only now become a bargain box, when only junk is left, the better stuff having been bought for £1 or£2 per item earlier.

The dealers etc have already had more than an hour to have a look before the general public are allowed in, why I got lucky I have no idea maybe the guy arrived late.

Excellent Richard you have done extremely well there. I mean to get the white thrush buster is a real score, my guess on the unknown dinky missing a door could be a Cortina.

But we will have to wait and see when you get it to really see the true scale of this super haul.

Re: Bidwar winner on local auction 50+ assorted Corgi, Lesney, Matchbox, etc 1 year ago #12

Platinum Boarder
yes Jay, confirmed its a Cortina, and its one of the rarer rally type.

There were a lot more cars and trucks that can not be seen in this lot.

Like a scale 1/18 Bburago black Porsche 911 which is in serious need of a restore.
I can't see it anywhere in that picture.

Apparently there are a few McDonalds toys in here too, Plus a couple of TV Anime characters.

Most, if not all are severely beaten and broken. Doors, hoods, tyres and wheels missing.

Some of the shattered gems in here are the broken Dinky Cortina, Corgi Monkeemobile missing a tire, but has all the Monkees, knackered Thrushbuster in white, missing tires, clickety-clack doesn't work, Corgi Zephyr Police wagon.

Couple of FunHo! in the mix and some colour variants I don't have yet.
Some Lesney's are good enough to be sold on if need be.

It was a long trip to Hamilton from Papakura. This was arranged with the seller. He came from Wellington for his brother's birthday. It would've been really expensive to post this box.
I'd better get some sleep and when I wake up I'll sort out this lot. I think they're approx a hundred cars in the box.

100 cars is going to take you a while to sort out. Good luck and who knows what else you may find at the bottom of that box.
