On February 18th 2012 there is to be a large Marklin lot on sale at Great Western Auctions in Glasgow, Scotland. This lot consists of mainly HO items produced in the early 1950s and much of it is in its original utility boxes. Included in it are 3 locomotives, a pantograph set, track, signals, points, level crossings, tin-plate passenger carriages and various goods wagons. There are also a number of buildings and lighting sets to illuminate them. There are also some items dating back to the 1980s including a locomotive, passenger carriages and a car transporter wagon complete with cars. There is also a collection of catalogues and price lists from both periods. The catalogue should be available by the end of next week and commission bids are accepted via the internet prior to the sale. The website address is
www.greatwesternauctions.com and catalogues can also be seen there and at
www.catmaker.co.uk
The items that I mentioned above have now been published in Great Western Auctions online catalogue at Lot 465. Unfortunately the photograph and the description do not do justice to the items being sold. There are 59 Marklin items plus track and catenery. 75% of these are from the 1950s and the rest are from the 1980s. These items include 4 locomotives, 4 tin-plate passenger coaches, 4 other passenger coaches and 12 goods wagons. There are also signals, points, a crossover, 2 level crossings, buffers and a bridge. One of the goods wagons is a car transporter wagon and the lot also contains 8 Wiking cars as its load. In addition there are 2 Transformers, 3 Control Plates, Distributor Plates, Lighting Sets for buildings as well as passenger coaches and a considerable amount of wire. There are 2 model churches, 2 Railway Stations Including a Marklin tin-plate station, a couple of kit island platforms and some other small buildings and railside items. There are also a number of catalogues, some dating back to the 1950s,and some complete with price lists.
Great Western Auctions don’t seem to cater for online bidding, but do take bids over the phone and accept commission bids by email.
