Semis, artics, pickups, vans, road trains - whatever they are and whatever you call them, if they're used to transport stuff, here's where to talk about them.

There's nothing more satisfying then having your favorite toy on display, the only truck that survived everything I threw at it (including a gas pellet).

I've had this Solido - Berliet Airport Foampumper since my 5th birthday. The new one in the foreground bought more as a comparison piece 35 years later.

Two trucks from the same year having endured two completely different lifestyles.

Indeed... the Prince and the Pauper.

But they both survived and are now on display!

Nice thing.

The are only two of my favorite toys that are still by me.

One of this pair is this one. (The other is on display only since a few months).

The Norev car transporter are nice models as well as other bodies.

Most of them are warped. I've cut 2mm of the chassis and it recover its original form.

Here are some Guisval models.

Brand new with packing. Made in Spain in the late 60's.

Absolutly marvellous. Is it 1/43 ?

Yes, I think it is.

If I put it beside the Dinky toys model, the size is  very similar.

Great models Stefho

I always wonder how the "blister" is made. I think I can guess it, but would love receiving more info about it. They seem to fit like a glove on the shown Guisvals

Each item has its own blister.

As you said, it fits like a gloge and it is stapled on the base.

The reference is written on it.

Are the Guisvals plastic models? They do look like plastic, but not sure? Also, from what I can see they're not warped at all - and as you mention, this is unusual for vintage plastic models. I would imagine the long trailers would be particularly prone to warping.

VERY nice models, by the way! First time I've seen any of them.

Very interesting I have seen some diecast cars made by Guisvals from Spain on Evil Bay in the UK from time to time. They looked a bit like Matchbox and do they still make toys.

it is a bit off topic, but this is the only Guisval I have

The four Berliet I have are made of plastic.

The scammel are in metal like other models.

I didn't see other plastic models warped. But, little added parts like the calender and the molding under the windscreen are very fagile and poorly adjusted.

Very interesting must do some research and find out more about Guisval and do some Googling to see what is on the Net about them. Plastic as well as diecast shows the Spanish toy company had multi functions similar to some other toy manufactures like Matchbox established over the decades.

There is always something to learn more about on TC.

I've only ever owned one Guisval model, a 1/43 Mitsubishi Montero/Pajero rally car. Unfortunately it was absolutely horrible! I bought it sealed in a blister pack (from eBay) so brand new - or at least unused/untouched. The white paint was extremely uneven, some parts on the lower half of the body wasn't covered at all, the paint had run. There was excess 'flash' on both metal and plastic parts. The all-important decals (this was a Dakar-rally var, remember) were crude (letters smeared and inlegible) and the decals themselves were cracking up badly.

I tried to sell it on, but every photo was a disaster, no matter what angle I used, so nobody was interested. In the end I practically gave it away for free.

Why am I saying this? What's the point? My point is, that judging by the truck photos in this thread and some other vintage Guisval-models I've seen on eBay, this used to be a proud company, a maker of quality toys, but at some point things must have gone drastically downhill for them. To be fair, this happened to other companies as well (some more than others), but nevertheless it saddens me to see such a decline.

Because I've only ever seen this one model in real life, I may be jumping to conclusions - my car could have been a one-off fluke disaster, but...? It's also possible that standards have improved since then, the year of issue is unknown, but the model represented a real car from the 2004 Granada-Dakar rally, so it was pretty recent.

It would be quite interesting if somebody had one or more good quality recent Guisval models to help prove me wrong, but I know this would probably not be the right tread for that.
