TOPIC: I think you know.

I've opened 6 of the 7 DCPs I have,  but they're boxed so they aren't too hard to put back. The Winross trucks aren't "sealed" per se, so they don't even really count. I only keep my HWs sealed and in Rubbermaid-like containers under my bed because that's all I can really do with them for the time being. I've opened 6 of the 70 or so GreenLights I have, but I do have some GL and a few HW 100% box sets on display. If I was moved out and in my own place with space, I would open a lot more stuff. It's really all because of space constraints that I keep the bulk of my collection sealed and/or put away. Otherwise, I wouldn't primarily be a "card collector".

What is the "Karma" widget for? Trade and/or purchase feedback?

It is sort of a good vibes bad vibes think. If you like the idea behind what was posted and it has helped you in some way or given you a good tip the you can leave that person a good Karma rating. If you tried something and it just did not work or there is wrong information posted by a person, you can give neg Karma and their score will drop by one. I have never given a Neg Karma and I am not sure if anyone else has. I would rather contact the poster first so he/she can correct the mistake or what ever. Usually taking with a person fixes the error. As a mod I can go into your posts and fix it if I wish but I would contact you about it at the same time so you are not...."Huh, that is not what I said or,,,who changed my post."

Hope that helps explain it for you.

Cheers, Jim

So it's not for "what an ugly model... that calls for some negative karma"? or "silly avatar... negative karma"? or even "I'm not into trucks... negative karma"?

Aahhh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up.

No, that is not what it is for. LOL

Good advise or something you did not know that is helpful in your collecting are two good reasons to give a + Karma to someone.

I don't have any of my DCP trucks in boxes, then again, a lot of my DCP trucks are customs that won't fit in the box they came in.

Opening up boxes isn't that big an issue with me. Blisters I do the same as Jim. If I want to have one for pics and display, I'll buy a couple of them. If the kids like the model, then I have to buy four of them so we all have one, plus the one for display. Last count, they had 104 Monster Jam trucks between the two of them.

For those interested, pictures are up. Some are in the "Trucks and Lorries" section, others are in the "GreenLight" section, and others are in the "Hot Wheels" section.

Enjoy,

John

Wow...that year went by quick. Just wanted to take a moment and express my gratitude to the people who run the site, the mods, and the members. This site is,in my opinion, the best toy/collector site on the internet and has by far and away the best members. Kudos to you all.

Thanks John and I would agree with you on all points. Staff have been doing a great job of fixing all the little bits and pieces we as members and mods are complaining about and I think they have most of them all sewn up or fixed now.

Congrats to all on another successful year here on Toy Collector.

Tee and Jim--
Interesting discussion on boxed or packaged models. As you know, I have a large collection of Dinky Toys, most of which I have the boxes, as well as some other newer models. I have always loved to be able to actually hold and look at my models at times. I even go to my display case and remove one of the older Dinky's and set it next to my computer while working....just so that I can look at it. For myself, I would never like having them all boxed and put away. I don't even like the clear plastic boxes that many of the new models come in, or the bases they are on....I remove them, knowing that I have lost some collection value, but liking the fact I can handle them....just a personal choice, but I really enjoy looking at my models up close and from all angles..........

To me, keeping a model in its box is a bit like buying an engagement ring and not giving it to the one you love.
