Solido is the brand that made me start collecting diecast as a grownup.
(When I was kid I had all the 75 Matchboxcars for the years 1961/1962/1963. My only 1/43 was Corgi Aston Martin DB4, I went buying groceries for a neighbour for some weeks to buy that one.)
What I liked about the Solido cars was that they had a lot of "daily driver". I did some paint "fixing" on some of them. Like on the Simca 1308GT and Citroen GS. I painted silver behind headlamps, orange blinkers, silver door handles and so on.
I have the following Solido. Mercedes 220SE -from sixties, metal base, very much like Dinky. Newer Solido: A few Renault 4 Van. Renault 5- cheap and more detailed versions, Renault 17TS, Renault 30TS. Citroen CX 2200, CX Break, Citroen GS, Citroen 15 SIX. Peugeot 504, 504 Break, 305 and 604. Ford Fiesta, Ford Escort MkII. VW Golf Mk1, Mk2.
Over the years my diecast collecting has been a little here and there. Today my main focus is on toy cars from 60ies and 70ies. Favourite Tekno. But Solido is what started it.
