Just added 3 more to the HO scale fleet. First up is a Peterbilt 386 with ad van. This is the new advert from Peterbilt for 2012 with the 687, 386, 384, 365, 335  and the new Peterbilt diesel engine on the trailer.

Next up is the new auto transport trailer pulled by a 386 Peterbilt in Western Distribution livery. The new trailer is also available in Western livery with a 389 Peterbilt or a Kenworth W 900 tractor.

Last one is a pair of new releases. Peterbilt 386 day cab with a set of 28 foot doubles, again in Western livery. The day cab Peterbilt 386 is also available with a tank trailer, 53 foot reefer or with a 53ft van trailer.

Found two of these at a great price. Better pics when they arrive. Not sure yet if the trailers will be repainted or not, but the tractors will remain as they are.

The first 3 of the new TON/Trucks N Stuff trucks arrived in the mail yesterday. The first thing that hit me was the huge difference in color between the Western 386 Peterbilt reefer and the two that arrived today.

The new tractors are darker in color, and sport metal flake paint, the reefer tractor doesn't have the flake paint and is a medium blue. There are no pinstripes on the new tractors either. Myself, I'm not a big fan of pinstripes, so that's a bonus for me.

The auto hauler trailer comes in a couple liveries. I chose the Lamborghini version. The auto hauler trailer is a new casting for this year, made of plastic with great graphics on each side.

The daycab Peterbilt 386 is also a new casting for this year. Great looking truck. The ideas are already screaming around my drawing board. The doubles are plastic with roll up doors (not working doors) and ready for the display or layout right from the package.

Up next is the new advert van from Peterbilt. Last years van had the entire Peterbilt line on the trailer. This year is centered on the Aerodynamic models and the new MX engine. The trailer is very nice, with rivet details holding each panel together on the sides and clean, bright graphics.

The TON Trucks N Stuff ad vans arrived today, and what I thought was black and white was really dark purple. At first I was going to repaint them for use as city tractors, until I saw the second pic. Now I'm rethinking the whole idea.

I've come ssoooo close to buying some Western trucks, but I never do... I like the purple. The deeper and darker, the better.

I'm sorry but what in that photo made you change your mind ?

Good question. I think the way the color looks in the pic. I may repaint one of them and leave the two trailers as is. Looking at options right now to see what else I can do. I'm not a huge fan of purple, and I really wanted that paint scheme in black and white. There is a really fine pin stripe that I won't be able to replicate on the cab, and that's holding me up. You can't see it in the pics, and I will try for a better close up shot of the cab so you can see it. This is one of my favorite paint designs from Peterbilt. Variations of it have been in use for decades.

This shot shows the pin stripe on the tractor at the left of the screen. I don't think I could replicate that small a stripe, but I'm trying to work in out at the moment.

Thanks, now I understand. It would take some fancy masking up to retain those pin stripes.

I was actually thinking decals. Microscale sells some pin stripes for train cars that are scale 1 inch thick that might work. I have a few other ideas in mind. I never know what I'll come up with.

I think decals would be the way to go on this one, unless you have a really steady hand and a pinstriping brush.
