TOPIC: Athearn Ready To Roll Kenworth and Mack trucks

I finally got around to taking some pics of my Athearn Ready To Roll trucks. I really like the details and liveries Athearn has done for the RTR line. Real rubber tires, interiors and all the little details I usually have to add myself are in place when you open the blisters. The graphics are crisp and clean, with no bleed through, and are accurate for the time periods. I'll start it off with the Kenworth W-900 models. The W-900 is from the mid 70's, and many are still in use today, and the W-900 is still in production, with modern upgrades. It is available as a tractor with sleeper, wrecker, dump truck and cement mixer.

Up next is the Mack B model trucks. These are also available as tractors, without sleepers, wreckers, dump trucks and cement mixers. I don't have the wrecker version of the B model, and the dump truck is someplace in the garage, boxed up.

The R model cabs replaced the B model cabs in the Mack line. same as the other RTR trucks, this one is available as a tractor, without sleeper, wrecker, dump truck and cement mixed. I have the tractor version with a set of double box vans, dump truck and cement mixer.

The last one I have from Athearn is the White Freightliner cab over. They have made quite an improvement over the kit version of this truck, adding the interior, cab details and rubber tires. I have the  Motor Cargo version with double van trailers, and will be adding more of them in the future.

Nice trucks for your lay out there Rob. That old Mack B looks just like one of the old cement trucks in use up here in the valley. Out of Rock Creek about 35 minutes from here and the company who owns it will be doing some concrete work for me. Need to dig up the front walk and re pack it as the water has taken away lots of the fill underneath. going to get a new sidewalk out of the deal too.

I like the other cement trucks and the Dump trucks too. Reminds me of the trucks used in the Okanagan while I was working in the trades there.

There was a towing and recovery service here that had a B model wrecker in their fleet. They sold it for 800.00 a few years back. The owner had no idea what he had or what it was worth.

That is a shame you did not know. Would have been a nice project truck. Speaking of old 1:1 trucks the is a 3 ton 1956 Chevy flat deck for sale for $5000 in Grand Forks. I was looking at the Mazda B2200 that was sitting on the back of it but not the right truck for me. I like the B4000 I did purchase. The old Chevy is in really nice shape too.

Yeah, I think I'd be living in the cab of it if I brought it home with me. I have the big truck, the 1 tons and the motor home, a 65 VW bug and I think that's enough projects for now. Don't want to push my luck.

I hear ya. You have room for that, at least way more than I do. We have a 50' x 100' lot. No room for more than the two we have not.
