Here are the three white metal Dinky replicas that were made this year for each of the 250 members of the DTCA (Dinky Toys Collectors Association).
They are truly superb.......

Jan--
wonderful pictures...thanks for posting for us. As a long time Dinky collector, seeing an exhibition like that would be just amazing...so many wonderful examples! Do they do exhibits like that very often?

Re: 75th Anniversary Dinky Toys 1 year ago #11

I agree: an exhibition like this would really be worth attending, because it looks so complete: you can see all the different versions of a model and compare colors, liveries and so on instead of seeing them one by one and then try to remember what each version looks like. I don't even dare guess about the value of what's on show here! Security will certainly have to be top notch.

That was our DTCA 75th anniversary exhibition in Derby in 2009. I wonder how you missed information about that. I just found this thread of over two years ago and saw some information about the jubilee replicas only, so I thought it was worth while to add a few photos of the exhibition. Some other photos made by Dave Busfield can be seen at:

http://dtcawebsite.org/75th-anniversary

The photos of the figures, Dolly Varden's House and some nice related pre-war items made me sadly think of our late friend Peter Golden, who took care of these contributions. A lot of other prominent DTCA members contributed with their Dinky treasures. It took a lot of time and energy to organize this exhibition, so I do not believe - as you enquired about - that an extensive quality exhibition like this will be mounted again soon.

Regards, Jan

Jan--
That is what I thought....that it was likely a rare exhibition, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Dinky Toys. By the way, I just applied for membership to DTCA....something I should have done years ago. I look forward to using the site and receiving their journals.

A few more pictures from the Derby exhibition.

The grand opening with the Lady maire of Derby and speeches by the president and the secretary of the Club.

And the very special 2010 calendar edited by Jan with pictures of Dave Busfield.

On my way to Derby, I stoped at the Calais factory which I had not seen before.
