RoutmasterNL, NOBLECO did a great job on the DECALS. The spare side mounted is not my idea. I noted it from an internet pic of an 8 wheel tipper. My next attempt will put the spare between the flatbed and chassis. It will save time and parts, with a little filing on the center of the wheel hub, the thickness is perfect as the support spacer. You can see it is open, see the spacer stack?
Nobleco, Jim = rest your eyes..... Look at the first pic, the original attempt. The Cab is Foden, flatbed w/chains standard Dinky, and the chassis = = Leylend. The deep arch between the tandum wheels, and the filler in the center of the fuel tank, although the Leland tank is off center = good observation. That is probably what caused the illusion when I changed chassis. The second and final attempt all Foden, chassis and cab, the flatbed w/ chains standard Dinky. Wheel arches are shallow and I filed the Foden rear flare off of them. The filler on the Foden tank is not centered, that probably gave an illusion, not sure.
Compare the stack in the stacked picture. I was comparing length also the hint of how the project was first thought through to get the tandums in front. It worked out. Dumb luck!
The back lights were nail heads. Holes were accurately positioned and drilled , but the nail heads were not quite centered on the stems. It got worse as I peened the stem mounting them to the chassis. Bummer! I have to work on that a bit. I really have to work on the obsession part, I had plenty of those broken post nubs that are perfect as lights and fit just right. I wanted to make the back lights larger on this one. Big mistake! Dumb, real dumb.......... live and learn.
Thanks for the compliments gentlemen, appreciated.
.......and the project was fun.
