blackstone I like your use of these special effects by sitting the Dinky on the real creation.

Here is a 36e British Salmson two-seater parked in front of a 44a AA box. Not sure of the sports car in the photo, though. Anybody knows?

Yes, agree, nice example and match!

Now for the Dinky Toys  no. 164 Vauxhall Cresta Saloon (1957-1960):

Both two-tone versions

... in some more detail

And the real one (slight differences in finish due to several years of make 1955-1957).

Welcome to the site and hope you have a good time here.

I Know Dinky made a jeep with a gun mounted in it. I know they did the 612 Commando Jeep but it had 2 machine guns in it. You could use the 615 Army Jeep, 828 Jeep with Missiles, or the 829 Jeep with Cannon (is this the one your showing?).  There is also the 669 Army Jeep which is closer to your real world example and of course the 153 Military Jeep which is what was modeled after the real original. The French 822 M3 Halftrack is excellent, just needs the machine gun in the model and the original.

Thanks GunnerJim and Jan! Here is the 182 Porsche 356a. The Swedish importer of Dinky Toys got the idea of comparing with real cars already in July 1958 and produced this pamphlet with both the actual model and the real car.

my guess would be a Riley 9 probably a Sprite or an Imp. About 1930-1-2 or 3

That was my guess too, Dinkydi, but it seems not to be a Riley.

Riley 9 Tourer 1936 and Imp 1935:

Jan: I just love that artwork of the Vauxhall Cresta and the front opening cargo plane that was used on the Meccano Mag. It gives me the impression if the images was taken by camra in one instant while on the other it seems that the original may have been painted then those images transferred onto printers plates.

Well this is nice my Google spell check is now working in the edit mode. Just testing this new TC vamp out.

Yes, GunnerJim, the scene looks so real-life that it must have been directly based on some photograph. I still remember these odd car cargo-planes flying over, from Rotterdam Airport (in those days Zestienhoven), apparently to Britain.

In my documentation I found some pictures of the lovely French Willemes, the no. 36A and B. The no. 36B Tracteur Willeme et semi-remorque bachee below:

There is this book 'Les camions Willeme, le roi des poids lourds', which I found still available on the internet, showing this nice detail of the truck. I do not have this. Perhaps some one can review this, or has that been done already?

And the popular Tracteur Willeme avec semi-remorque fardier, no. 36A. The promotional picture of the real-one showing a slightly different tractor type and trailer.

Jan, here are more photos of the Willeme. Compare the size of the driver with the enormous cab. And look at the steeringwheel - no servo assistance!

No LUFF, I don't think it is an Alvis. I have checked several photos.
