Two questions for the experts - one of them has been partially answered before, but...

Who get the June models in June? Only the subscribers who have been on from day one, or? From the impression I got earlier, 'newcomers' get the models in more or less random order, because there's a big backlog, but will we ever start getting the new releases as they come out, or will we forever be 'backlogging'? So far I've recieved 6 models, in this order:

1. Citroen DS 19 (#24cp)

2. Citroen 2CV, 1961 (#558)

3. Porsche 356A Coupe (#182)

4. Chevrolet Corvair (#552)

5. Opel Kadett A (#540)

6. BMW 1500 (#534)

I wonder if this order is completely random or if others have shared the same sequence?

The 2nd question is about the special releases: giftsets, trucks and the other ones not in the regular lineup... how and when are these offered, and to whom? I've ticked yes to recieve additional offers and information from Atlas, but is this all I need to do?

Teebodk.

First of all you must consider that Atlas is a hell of a mess, that their communication is just about the worst any company can have.

Example : I write to Atlas U.K. about the U.K. Dinky collection and the answer is we are not going to do it. Two days later Roulet who is a consultant for Atlas France writes : "the U.K. collection will be launched early in 2013.

About the order in which you receive the models, I suppose that then first send out what they have in stock and then wait to see how many new subscriptions they get before reordering from China. So you will certainly get your models in a completely random sequence. The main thing is that you get all of them. You are lucky because collectors have complained so much with good reason (see Dinky Toys Encyclopaedia) that the quality has improved. The wheels do not fall off any more, the base plates are fitted properly and the length of axles is neither too short or too long now.

As far a the special models are concerned you may or may not receive a warning from Atlas but anyway, I will scan the order form and put it on this site for who will want any of these models. Any way the previous sets will not be re-issued.

Is your Corvair light or dark blue ? 50 dark blue ones have evaporated in thin air. They have been made but nobody knows where they have gone.

According to Gradon, this should be the June issue with cream hubs. This was the 1957 - 1959 issue. Mine with the grey hubs is the  1959 - 1963 issue.

It is true these models are only available from atlas only to subscribers also recent members do get models out of sequence, the reason this is apart from the first two introduction Citroen models you have the rest are recent releases terefore they are still in stock for immediate dispatch.

It is also trrue that for the last 48 months, since 2008, Atlas have introduced one new model per month to the range, The gift sets and the two commercials released are regarded as specials and to get further information on these , I am afraid you have to contact an established subscriber.

To get a full listing of the modelsso far released including the sets, you could log in to; KIOSQUES.DOC DINKY, This is where I get my latest information from.

Also if you are stuck on getting hold of any models or the sets, You could allways try the well known international auction website as all of the range is at some point offered on there, Afterall since february last year I have been able to obtain my collection

My Corvair is a very light turquoise, so I'm afraid I don't have one of the vanished ones.

Thanks for the answers - I wasn't really looking to get any of the special releases from the past, just wondering if I would get notification of any future releases.

I am afraid you do't really get any notification to whats coming out in the future untill the model is about to be  released, Though this is pure speculation I did copy a list of possible new releases due out next, last November, so far  it  has been 100% correct.

The next few models that followed the forthcoming 2CV where, Auto Union Record, Simca P60, Packard Eslteel, Panhard 24CT, and the Fiat 600D. However plans have changed a lot since then, therefore it is highly likely the future range will entirely different. So if you see such listings take only with a pinch of salt.

Gradon,

You forget the ID 19 Citroën station wagon in civilian or ambulance and in RTL finish, also the Vedette 1954.

I do apoise you are right and how should I have forgotten the Citroens, I also did not mention that the Wessanwacht citroen 2cv was on the shortlist.

Thanks for the picture of the dark blue Corvair. Did it ever come out?

The 50 dark blue Corvairs were the price for the winers of a competition on the net organised by Atlas's advertising agency last November. This agency is so incompetent that the questions for the competition were easily available on Atlas's roten web site. Was this done on purpose so that a few of the competitors could get the questions ahead of time ?

The competition was stoped, restarted and stoped for good, nothing happened since. The models must have been made and delivered to Atlas in Normandy but Atlas refuses to comunicate about what will happen to the 50 models. They are probably ashamed to be so incompetent.

When I found all these questions, I posted them on a web site and got the sack immediately from that site, I was also accused by Roulet to have pirated the Atlas web site which is absolutely not true, this has been witnessed by Atlas's own solicitor to whom it was explained how to get the questions very easily and legally. I have written to this solicitor on April 7, 2012 but I am still expecting an answear which I will probably never get.

This is how Atlas takes care of it's customers

Jacques--
What a sad situation....it could so much better with little effort...just caring enough and the right attitude would make all the difference! Thanks for doing your best to keep us informed of what is or is supposed to be going on.

This is the last Atlas Dinky. I would have choosen to make it in met grey which was the most popular and only colour available for several years.

The quality of these models has improved in some ways but not all. This model has been riveted in a peculiar way which creates sharp burs all around the rivets which are so badly made that I am quite sure some will come of very soon. Previous rivets were fine, why change ?

This makes the model dangerous, it does not meet any of the safety standards either in the EC or any other country, the CE mark should not appear on the box and the models should not be sold in the EC.

The other news is the new Roulet book which will be available in July. Not cheap but what is today ? Unfortunately it is writen only in French and available in France only.

Well, that does not even look like a rivet. More like some one has tried to drill out the rivet and not very well done either. Where is the quality control going. Not that they seem to have much to begin with.

What is with the people writing and publising this new book. You would think that an English version would be done at the same time. After all there are many billions of people who speak English but now where near as many who speak French. Does not seem right to exclude all the English speaking collectors.

i apologise it is several days of finding out, as I have been away, But next month's atlas dinky release is confirmed as the 23D Auto Union Record car. As from this morning I can confirm it will be finished in a light sage green type colour and with a No, 4 racing number within a red circle. Whilst this looks very attractive in this colour scheme.

As with the previous citroen, it is not in the usual silver as expected, but there again Atlas are known for choosing rarer combinations.

One further point about this most recent model, I would like to ask to clear my mind. Was the original model ever sold in an indiviual box? As far I can recall, I can only recollectthis was a trade box only model.

From dinkycollect, who's currently unable to post:

Gradon,

The Auto-Union to be issued by Atlas is the French one on which the rear axle does not protrude through the rear wings. It has been made in light green only with racing numbers 1 to 6. The ridged hubs are usually red but rarely a darker green than the body.

This French Dinky has been sold in grey tradeboxes of 6 only and was available from June 1950 until 1952. The die was probably the English one.

Just a little bit of news, Atlas will release the 2 cv van ref 532 h in Wegenwacht finish in May 2013. Before that in November or December the same van will be issued off collection in "Club BB Lorain finish".

The Auto-Union has been delivered last week, it is the early casting.

Sorry, still unable to post any pictures.........! ! !
