TOPIC: matchbox in the midwest

Matchbox does not seem to move here in the midwest USA. I still find products as old as 2007 on the shelves of some stores. Flea market vendors are selling 1994-2005 regular series blister packs for $1 each or 6 for $5. I pick up many Premier collection (limited to 25,000),  superfast editions (limited to 15,000), across america and first editions for as low as $2 each. I even talked one vendor down to $20 for 20 premier collection blisters. Funny thing is that other flea market venders with loose models often ask much more for the same. Go figure...

Lesney superfast and pre-superfast demand a good amount though.

Over here in Holland there is not much going on with Matchbox either.

If I want newer models, I go to Germany, where the shops have the 2011/2012 range widely available. Some older models are there too, but not many.

A shame really,

when I was last in Holland (1991-94) there wasn't much to do on Matchbox either. But Majorette... and Siku... that's a different story.

Its getting worse. Just went to a Dollar Tree store today. They had a couple of shopping baskets full of 2012 matchbox 1-120's. They previously had been on the pegs since the beginning of the year for $1.00. They were $0.50 each in the baskets! I already had all of them but went ahead and bought 30 of them because of the very low price. They had up to batch "F" models.

The Matchbox around me move fairly well.  They move a case per 2 weeks probably.  These are in high volume stores that move 1-2 cases per day of Hot Wheels.
