Matchbox/Lesney job lot box 1 year, 1 month ago #1

I bought a box job lot at a toy fair on Sunday all matchbox/Lesney apart from the Days Gone at the back and the ERTL train on the left.

The #10 pipe truck is missing the pillars , third from the right the Denver fire truck #30, the platform is badly scratched, I don't know much about this one as it is not in my catalogue, the Magiruz Deutz rear left needs a hook as does the Thames trader wrecker and the # 30 8 wheeled crane front 2nd left, one pipe truck has large scratch on window apart from that it is a paint job

total cost for box £10  $15

There was another maybe twice this number that I could have got for £15.50 but I thought that this was enough to wrestle with.

All the tippers still have rear doors.

I still need a Scammell to go with a Crane trailer that I have I have four trailers and three trucks.

I did not get a good look at the box when i got it ....Pig in a Poke but I am quite pleased with the outcome.

I also got a dinky articulated bedford £10 dont know if I will Resto that one as it is not in such a bad state

Matchbox/Lesney lots are always interesting because you never know what treasures you might find. There are so many models and often the lots consist of mainly (semi-)modern stuff with a few oldies hiding in the corners. All of your models look vintage, which is slightly surprising considering there's also a Lledo, so it's not from someone who stopped collecting in 1970.

There certainly seems to be a few goodies in your lot, well worth the price you paid... nice!

This was a toy fair seller who I think just wanted to get rid of STUFF.

As usual this is the sort of thing that is under the tables/benches, so getting down on your knees brings some reward, the three little cars rear right were not in the box, when I say box it was a tray, nor was the lledo, they were actually in the more expensive box/tray but when I paid him he said here you might as well have these and took them out of the tray and put them in mine. it was not as if I was a complete stranger to him as we have met a few times at toy fairs over the years.

There is another seller who has mostly military and has a repaint Lesney dozer that I wouldn't mid acquiring, however although he has had it to my knowledge at least two years, he will not budge on the price every time we meet he says , you buying it this time to the reply you going to drop the price....brick wall.

I also got the truck and trailers below, forgot to put them on the table, I don't know if it has two trailers but this one has

I like the comparison on the two sellers. One instantly recognizes good customer relationship which was extended gratefully by throwing in a couple of extras. Knowing the fact you will return to buy again. The other is either thick minded or really doesn't really want to sell this particular bulldozer, even if it is a repaint. Only if the bulldozer is the exceptional restoration by some restorer of quality name, then it maybe be worth it but I have my doubt's about it.

Anyway just love the trailer train. At least Matchbox got this one right by selling them separate, like I wounder what the sales were really like comparing the two. More trailers than trucks were sold or were they equal then again it could have been the other way around?

ironically got a lot of trailers so you might be onto something here.

Still not able to get the scammell to go with the CRANE 200 ton transporter, out bid on four lots so far can't even find a lone truck at toy fairs . I have no intention of paying £10 for a truck, when i can get both truck and trailer for less . what i really want is the LAING truck and trailer I already have the caterpiller that goes with the set.

I have just got two of these I did not think I would win both bids only bid a pittance.

However what is supposed to be hanging on the end of the jib in the way of a hook. tried to find a minter on google, but can't find any with a hook, or whatever should be there

the parts list says it is a rope and separately a hook ??

Re: Matchbox/Lesney job lot box 1 year ago #13

Platinum Boarder
the 'rope' is that plastic white thing made out of plastic.

Re: Matchbox/Lesney job lot box 1 year ago #14

Platinum Boarder
They were always plastic with the metal hook on the end and usually were either chewed off or just snapped off with some help.

This what you are looking for although Recovertoy probably doesn't have any as usual.
