This book delivers what it aims at - it is a comprehensive guide in a easy to carry format, listing most of the Transformers in Generation One. What I miss however is some closer description, since the book provides only the name and value for every item (at least the reference number or colour variants). Nonetheless, it does the job of a quick reference.

Compared to other books, this one comes in a much smaller format, making it a nice companion for fairs. I enjoyed the pictures - they reminded me with my own childhood, spent along this never-aging icon. The outfits are really stunning.

However, the price guide is a bit confusing, since it plainly lists the items, without giving an emphasis on categories. You have to go through various pages until you find the item you are looking for. It also does not provide a closer descriprion of the doll (e.g. accessories). But I suppose that it would be off the scope for such publication, since then it would become too long and overwhelming.

All in all, solid publication - if you need just a quick overall view on the world of Barbie and her companions, Barbie Doll Field Guide will do the job.

Amazing book! Great as a reference guide but also just for browsing and reading. Every single thing (figure variant, head variant, body variant, clothes variant, box variant, accessory, ...) comes with an illustration. Nothing deserves the adjective "ultimate" as much as this book.

Truly worth while for any Ruggedy doll fan or collector. Full of pictures, I found it a really comprehensive guide. Most dolls are featured on individual images, with a lovely complementing backround (garden setting). The pictures come with a detailed description, including the maker, production year and approximate value for the depicted doll.

A pleasure to browse through, but also full of essential information.
