A kit of a classic hot rod makes a return. But this one will take more of a "model kit builder" than a "model kit assembler".
My first impression when I opened the box to this kit was that it appears to have more parts that are chromed than are not. But hey, that was how it was when they built these show rods back in the day. It looks really cool, but remember to scrape the chrome from those glue points so that your model cement will work! Both head and taillights are on the chrome tree. There is a chrome nerf bumper for the rear. The windsheild frame is chrome. The windsheild is actually a piece of clear acetate plastic. Just like modelers did in the old days, you’ll have to cut it out with a provided template and carefully glue it to the frame. The engine is one of the cool old kind that shows the insides. Many Revell kits back then had this feature. These engines are not only good for the kit, but are also useful for a diorama with an engine that is being torn down. All of the accessories are separate parts, too, and chromed at that. The transmission parts are chrome, too, and include a cool sword handle gear shift. There’s not really much to the interior - The interior itself, the steering wheel with separate horn ring, clutch and brake pedals, and the master cylinder. There is a hole in the floor for that gear shifter. The chassis is made up of many parts, so take your time to get everything aligned properly to avoid fit troubles later on. The suspension is made up of many separate parts, and most of them are chrome. Tires are skinnies up front and regular tires for the rear. The decal sheet has all the custom paint scallops. It looks to me like all you need to do is paint the body with a pearl white then add the graphics. There are some cool extras in this kit. Display stanchions, a sign board, and a multitiered trophy.
